Applications of Metal Hydrides

The reaction of gaseous H₂ and a metal alloy forming a metal hydride (including the back-reaction) can be employed for various technical applications:

    Hydrogen separation from gas mixtures (e.g. H₂-CH₄)

   - Heat pumps

    Thermochemico-mechanical actuators

    Electrochemical applications (e.g. battery electrodes)

    Electronic applications (e.g. sensors)

    Optical applications (e.g. switchable mirrors)
